Description: 

Working under a learning college philosophy (http://www.estrellamountain.edu/learning-college) and placing learning first anyway, anyplace, anytime. The person in this position will provide a variety of support services via an internship in the Science Laboratories. The federal work study student will assist with the everyday running and maintenance of the biology, engineering, physics, geology or chemistry labs. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the vision of the college and the science departments. This opportunity could be paid from a variety of different areas such as Federal Work Study or scholarships, this will be relayed during the interview process. 

Hours: Depending on students' availability up to 25 hours a week 

This opportunity is only available to Estrella Mountain Community College students.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
  1. 30% Washing and sterilizing glassware  
  2. 25% Prepares lab equipment and solutions

  3. 25% Restocking and cleaning labs

  4. 20% Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements: 

  1. Evidence of past reliability (can be demonstrated previous instructor reference)

  2. Evidence of ability to take direction and having a willingness to learn

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Have taken a course in your area of interest (i.e. biology, chemistry, geology, physics, or engineering). List these courses under your education on your resume.  

  2. Students looking to graduate with an associates in science

  3. Experience organizing and prioritizing work

Special Working Conditions:

  1. Must be able to work with chemicals and/or bacteria, biology specimens such as those found in a college biology courses.
