Job Summary: 

Provides security patrol and general safety assistance to the college community and visitors.

Essential Functions: 

Provides security patrol at a fixed post or assigned area traveling by foot, bicycle or cart (60)% Provides general safety assistance to the college community, visitors and first responders; provides safety escorts (10)% Locks and unlocks campus buildings and offices (5)% Directs traffic; issues parking citations (5)% Responds to safety related service calls and incidents; reports safety hazards or security issues (5)% Completes incident reports and activity logs (5)% Adheres to applicable policies and procedures (5)% Performs other duties as assigned (5)%

Minimum Qualifications: 

High School Diploma or GED. There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.

Desired Qualifications: 

Associate’s Degree Prior security, law enforcement, or military experience CPR/AED Certification preferred Demonstrated ability to respond appropriately to sensitive and emergency situations Experience working in a college environment

Special Working Conditions: 

Positions in this class typically require: standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Working Conditions: Rotating shift work is performed in the field with moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as blood or other body fluids); frequent exposure to environmental conditions (such as disruptive people, imminent danger, or uncertain environment); and moderate exposure to extreme temperatures.

Special Notes: 

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver’s License. Must successfully pass comprehensive background check and may be required to submit to periodic comprehensive background checks.
