Avondale’s summer teen employment program has a new name and look.  Formally known as “Next STEP,” the program is now called “Avi TEMP,” which stands for Teen Employment Mentorship Program.  The city of Avondale has partnered with EMCC to hire students that are Avondale residents between the ages of 16 and 24.

Past partnerships include departments within the City of Avondale, Keepsake Trophy, Boys and Girls Club, Agua Fria Food Bank, and other small businesses located along Western Ave in the heart of Avondale. This opportunity will allow you to get valuable work-based experiences in broad areas all while giving back to your community. This internship is a part-time position, working under 20 hours per week at $12 per hour. 

Currently, this program is scheduled to begin June 8 and end July 23, 2020. **It is our hope to continue with this program as planned, however, we are continuing to monitor CDC guidelines and directives based on the COVID-19 response. In order to minimize the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus, this program may be postponed or modified accordingly. ** Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the application and interview process has been modified.

  • May have to meet income eligibility requirements
