APECA is looking for students interested in a paid summer internship working with girls in a group home west of Buckeye.

Number of Hours per Week: 40
Duration of Internship: 10 weeks during Summer
Pay rate: $14 per hour

APECA is looking for students who can commit to a 10-week internship.

If selected, before starting work, you will have to submit or obtain the following: (forms and information will be provided if you are selected)

  • Obtain an Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card. APECA will reimburse the costs of this if you complete the internship.
  • Submit paperwork stating you are medically cleared to work with children (at your expense)
  • Submit a notarized Criminal History Self-Disclosure Affidavit
  • Submit an authorization form for the Department of Child Safety to do a background check
    • Meet the Department of Child Safety requirement of one year experience in jobs working with children, i.e.: EDU field experience, babysitter, pool life guard, camp counselor
      • You will need to supply job information and references to APECA for verification

Duties and Responsibilities: 

The intern will help APECA staff care for girls ages 6-16, participating in outings and crafts with the girls and helping them with reading and daily activities in a group home west of Buckeye.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Currently enrolled or continuing at EMCC
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • The intern must be able to pass a medical and TB test, background check, and fingerprint clearance card.  See description above.
  • One year experience in jobs working with children, i.e.: EDU field experience, babysitter, pool life guard, camp counselor (provide references for verification)
  • Positive, friendly attitude
