Job Summary: 

Estrella Mountain Community College is hiring a Computer Commons Learning Facilitator 1 to work under the Learning College Philosophy  where learning happens anyway, anytime, anyplace. This position supports students in the Computer Commons with tutoring services in CIS and CSC courses; tutoring services are offered in-person or remotely. Some details include, resting Maricopa MEID student passwords, locating and reactivating student accounts, software applications and hardware trouble shooting. customer service support with administrative duties, In-addition  this position will provide customer service support with the daily operations of the Computer Commons.

Essential Functions: 

60% - Provides tutoring for the Computer Commons in CIS and CSC courses, virtually or in-person

30% - Assist students with software applications and hardware issues related to computers and laptops. Assist the with front desk support (answering phones, screening calls and transfers, statistical data record keeping.

10% - Maintains the assigned Computer Commons Laboratory with (printers, scanners with restocking of computer lab equipment and supplies). 

Minimum Qualifications: 

1. Some college work experience with completion with (grade of "A" in Microsoft Office 2019 courses (i.e. CIS105, CIS higher level courss, and CSC courses).

2. Computer equipment with hardward and software knowledge

3. Effective oral and written communication skills and understanding the characteristics of good customer service

4. Experienced wth web-plat forms (i.e., google meets, webex, or zoom etc.)

5. Experienced with working in a customer service environment, knowledge of office and administrative duites (i.e., answering, screening, and routing phone calls, data input and retreival software).

Desired Qualifications: 

1. Associates Degree in any related field

2. Experience handleing confidential records

3. Experience with front line customer service

4. Experience multi-tasking in a busy high-level learning environment

5. Completiton with an "A" grade in one or more computer web-development or programming courses (i.e, Java, C++, C#, Visual Basics, SQL, Python). 

Special Working Conditions: 
  • This position may require long hours of standing or sitting
  • This position may require prolonged computer usuage
  • This positon may require to lift 30- 50 pounds of force occasionally, push, pull, or otherwise move objects/machinery
Special Notes: 
  • This position requires high level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.  The candidate needs to be patient, supportive, and have a caring nature to assist students.
  • Flexibility to attend training and meetings
  • Must be dependable and available during peak times throughout the semester
