Job Summary: 

Estrella Mountain Community College is hiring an Economics Learning Facilitator to work under the Learning College Philosophy where learning happens anyway, anytime, anyplace.  This position provides in-person or virtual tutoring by appointment in economics in the Computer Commons. 

Essential Functions: 
  • 90% Provides in-person tutoring to students in the Computer Commons in-person or virtually by appointment; works with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff.
  • 10% Maintains student tutoring data, assist with workshops, class presentations and other student success activities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: 
  1. Successful completion (grade of “B” or better) in ECN 211 and ECN212
  2. Knowledge of course content and materials in the subject area of Economics
  3. Ability to explain the diverse set of topics covered in ECN 211/212 in a clear manner
  4. Good communication skills and the ability to help students understand complex material
  5. Patient and respectful of varying levels of student content knowledge
Desired Qualifications: 
  1. Knowledge of instructional methods used at Estrella Mountain Community College (Canvas and other leanring platforms)
  2. Experienced with web-platforms (i.e., google meets, webex, or zoom etc.)
  3. Experienced handling confidential records
  4. Experience with front line customer service in a fast-paced environment
Special Working Conditions: 

Tutors work by appointment in the Computer Commons for in-person tutoring or through virtual means.
