Job Summary: 

The Career & Education Planning (CEP) department includes Advisement, the Career and Transfer Center, and Testing Services. The Welcome Center Technicians are the first point of contact for students seeking assistance in these areas at Estrella Mountain Community College. This position assists in creating a welcoming environment; ensuring timely and equitable access to student services; and making appropriate referrals to other services on campus. Welcome Center Technicians are expected to demonstrate outstanding customer service and treat each individual with respect and kindness making their experience with Estrella Mountain Community College a positive one.

This position will provide support with enrollment steps, check-in, appointment scheduling, data entry, reviewing student files, processing reports, maintaining and organizing the front desk, assisting with events and meetings, and performing other duties as assigned. Successful candidates should be willing to learn and share information about college resources and have a genuine desire to help students succeed. Staff are expected to be professional, courteous, and friendly when working with students and staff in-person, virtually, or on the phone.

Essential Functions: 

50% - Greets all visitors, including students, staff, and community members; assists students with enrollment process; checks students in for one-on-one sessions; schedules appointments, maintains student usage data; monitors wait times; and uses effective customer services skills to keep students informed.

40% - Welcomes students to the department and explains how to use our services; responds to inquiries generated virtually or by phone in a polite and professional manner; This position will also work in the Registration Room and work on answering phones, outgoing phone campaigns, and self-service assistance; maintains online resources; participates in office functions as assigned.

10% - Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Experience providing direct front-line customer service.

  • Experience working with diverse populations.

Special Working Conditions: 

Maximum 20 hours per week

Hours based on business needs

This position is 100% on campus and not eligible for remote work.

The end date is June 30th 2024 or sooner contingent upon funding availability
