Job Summary: 

PALS (Personal Allies for Learning Success) help students navigate college life, learn about college academic expectations, and experience a sense of belonging at EMCC. PALS meet individually with students to identify challenges, make connections to resources, and provide encouragement and guidance for success. PALS present workshops on success topics and engage in efforts to develop students' sense of belonging on campus. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions: 
  • 40%- Meets individually with currently enrolled students, virtually and in-person; presents workshops; participate and support CEP sponsored events 

  • 40%- Outreaches to current students to engage them with PALS 

  • 10%- Attends staff meetings; participates in trainings/professional development 

  • 5%-   Maintains detailed records on job-related activities 

  • 5%-   Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Must be a current degree-seeking student at EMCC enrolled in a FOI (Business Entrepreneurialism and Management or Education, Computer and Information Technology, STEM or Applied Technology) in Fall 2023

  • Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA 

  • Completed 12+ credit hours (15+ preferred)

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and a positive attitude

  • Desire to help EMCC students succeed 

  • Desire to promote a sense of belonging at EMCC for all students

  • Effective time management and organizational skills

Desired Qualifications: 
  • Awareness and appreciation of diversity

  • Experience overcoming personal and/or academic challenges

  • Experience delivering presentations (in class, at work, etc.)

  • Leadership, community involvement or volunteer experience
