Ryan House interns will take the lead on specific events that help raise the much-needed funding for the organization. In addition to the planning and implementation of events, interns will also assist with all public relations and marketing tactics that coincide with each event and the organization as a whole. Scope of work will vary depending on the interest level and the experience of the intern. This organization is looking for the student to work 16 hours per week in this unpaid internship.
The mission of Ryan House is to provide respite and palliative care to children with life-threatening conditions and, as needed, end-of-life care.
Applicants must be continuing EMCC students and have a minimum of 2.5 G.P.A or a recommendation from your SWSC instructor. Write, edit and proof communications materials
o Support social networking activities (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, blog)
o Assist in the marketing support of events
o Media outreach regarding Public Service Announcements
o Assist in the production of videos for YouTube
o Assist in the production of donor and family newsletter and e-newsletter
o Monitor, maintain and log press clippings
o Assist in the solicitation of in-kind goods for events
o Assist with updating outreach materials and collateral
o Serve as staff representative at third party events
o Manage event dashboard
o Manage list of approved vendors
o Manage sponsorship dashboard
o Maintain RSVP lists for events
o Attend event planning meetings
o Complete event planning related tasks
o Assist in the day of event operations
o Attend post event meetings
o Additional administrative assistance as needed
o College curriculum in Marketing, Communications and/or Public Relations preferred
o Strong writing skills (will be asked to submit writing samples)
o Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.)
o Ability to work both independently and on a team
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
o Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, iMovie, Word Press and Constant Contact a plus.
